
About Me
Melissa T Ojemeni RN, PhD, is the deputy Chief Nursing Officer at Partners In Health, a global health and social justice organization committed to improving the health of the poor and marginalized. In her role, she provides strategic oversight and leadership to strengthen nursing and midwifery practice in eight countries across Latin America, the Caribbean, East, West and Southern Africa. She has over 15 years of clinical bedside nursing and teaching experience in the United States and internationally and was part of the inaugural year of the Human Resources for Health program in Rwanda.
Dr. Ojemeni has consulted with both non-profit and educational institutions to advance the nursing profession through her collaborative research, strategic planning, program and project management skills focused on nursing education and leadership capacity building. Dr. Ojemeni has held adjunct faculty appointments teaching undergraduate nursing students in clinical, classroom and simulation lab settings. Dr. Ojemeni was a pre-doctoral trainee in occupational and environmental health nursing funded by the CDC-National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health/Supplement to NY/NJ Education Research center (T42-OH-008422). Her research interests lie in health services and health systems strengthening, human resources for health, leadership capacity building, post conflict health reconstruction and nurse migration. She has disseminated her research through numerous peer reviewed manuscripts, book chapters and poster presentations. Dr. Ojemeni holds a PhD from New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing, a Master of Arts in International Peace and Conflict Resolution with a global health concentration from Arcadia University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree from Gwynedd Mercy University.
